Dark circles appear as blue and grey shadows around your eyes that make skin look tired and dull. Looking to colour theory, you can neutralise the appearance of dark circles under eyes with an orange-toned concealer or colour corrector. Shades like peach, orange and red sit opposite blue on the colour wheel, so applying these shades in areas experiencing heavy dark circles with a greyish tinge can help to cancel out the appearance of darkness and brighten, lift and correct the look of your skin tone. To apply, take a colour-correcting shade of concealer like my Magic Vanish and stipple it into any areas with prominent dark circles such as under the eyes and the inner corner of your eye socket. Blend out colour corrector with the small, tapered end of my Hollywood Complexion Brush, focusing product on the affected areas and blending out the edges to mesh seamlessly with your foundation. Once you’ve achieved a seamless blend, your eye area should appear brighter and more awake.
Concealer will do the heavy lifting when it comes to covering dark circles with makeup. A full-coverage concealer is highly pigmented and is your secret weapon to making dark circles under eyes disappear. Reaching for a concealer with a full-coverage finish glazes over skin concerns like dark circles and hyperpigmentation, creating the illusion of smoother, brighter, and more even-looking under eyes. All types of concealers can be useful to counteract the look of dark circles, but if you experience deep-set dark circles or are particularly conscious about darkness under eyes, a full-coverage concealer formula like AIRbrush Flawless Blur Concealer is your best bet for disguising the look of dark circles completely. When applying concealer to dark circles, focus your product on the darkest areas of your eye such as shadows on the outer corner of your eye and prominent eye bags. The skin around your eyes is prone to creasing so I recommend adding concealer bit by bit to perfect the look of your under eyes, but for maximum coverage, swipe a ‘V’ shape underneath your eyes to block out the look of dark circles with flawless, full-coverage concealer.

Orange, peach or red – The best shade of concealer for cancelling out dark circles is a warm-toned orange, peach or red concealer that counterbalances the cool blue and purple tones of dark circles. The right shade of colour corrector for you will depend on your skin tone – if you have fair-medium skin then a peachy pink or light orange concealer may be pigmented enough to give you the neutralising effect you’re looking for, whereas tan-deep skin tones should reach for more pigmented oranges and reds to cancel out the appearance of their dark circles. Cover dark circles with your concealer by placing it on the darkest portions of your under eyes. Dark circles commonly appear in a half-moon shape underneath your eyes so swiping concealer onto this area will help to diminish the appearance of shadows and pigmentation. Other parts of the eye area that are prone to becoming dark and dull are the inner and outer corners; try dotting concealer into these areas and blending softly to neutralise the appearance of dark circles.
