Discover how to stop concealer creasing under eyes and in fine lines with my makeup and skincare tips and tricks! Darlings, this is how to get your concealer to look super-smooth and flawless all day without creasing, caking or separating.
My father was a talented artist, darlings, and he taught me that no matter your abilities with a paint brush, you need a flawless canvas for your work to look its best. Think of your concealer like a painting, darlings – if your canvas has a rough texture with ridges and ruffles, colours won’t apply smoothly or evenly and will be more likely to crease. In the world of makeup, you can use skincare to hydrate and retexturise the look of your skin so when it comes to applying your concealer, it can look smooth and flawless without creasing and accentuating skin texture.
One of the most common places that we see concealer creasing is in fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. The delicate skin in your eye area is prone to feeling dry and showing dehydration lines, but by keeping it hydrated with skincare products like eye serums, eye creams and eye patches, you can make your eye area appear smoother and firmer which in turn results in a more flawless concealer application. In the morning, apply an eye serum like Cryo-Recovery Eye Serum to reinvigorate the look of skin around your eyes and help them appear smoother and more awake. Concealer tends to crease in areas where laugh lines and wrinkles are more prominent such as around your eyes and mouth. You can use gua sha massage techniques to help reduce the appearance of lines on your face, contributing to creating a smoother-looking surface for concealer to apply onto. Applying concealer with and without moisturiser and primer is like night and day, darlings. Wearing concealer on unprepped skin will look dry and crepey as well as being prone to creasing and cracking. Moisturising your skin with a rich cream or gel moisturiser allows you to retexturise your base, hydrating any dry patches and areas of texture and helping them to appear smoother and softer. Applying a primer is like creating a brand new skin texture between your skin and your makeup, smoothing out the appearance of any lines and creases and allowing concealer to look even smoother.

Sometimes less is more, darlings… If you overapply your concealer, this can cause it to crease and separate on your face. The temptation to apply a lot of concealer to disguise the appearance of dark circles can lead to crepey-looking under eyes with prominent creasing. Too much product can overload your skin, blends less efficiently and increases the likelihood of slipping and sliding around on your face. Taking a small amount of concealer and applying it exactly where you need it is the secret to concealer that looks like skin and doesn’t crease. Get a flawless blend from your concealer by using a precise, tapered brush with small, densely packed bristles like my Hollywood Complexion Brush. Once you have applied concealer, take your makeup brush and stipple it into your skin, lightly pressing concealer into place. Use soft, circular motions to blend the edges of your concealer until it blurs seamlessly into your foundation with no visible lines or brush marks. Unblended concealer is more likely to move around your face and collect in lines, so always take a little bit of extra time to perfect your blending.

The skin in your eye area is extremely thin, experiences lots of movement as we express happiness, surprise and laughter, can easily become dry, and is prone to developing fine lines and wrinkles, all of which can contribute to concealer creasing.
