Even after 20 years as a make-up artist working in the fashion and beauty industry, I am constantly so excited by the incredible transformative power of make-up. As a girl I was fascinated by the effect of a beautiful woman walking into a room, and always wondered how she did it. Then, at 13 I discovered mascara and had my epiphany moment: through the power of make-up every woman can feel and look beautiful!
I grew up between fashionable London and bohemian Ibiza. My father is a painter so our world was a creative melting pot of artists, writers, hippies and the club scene. It’s where I draw my eclectic library of images and inspirations to this day. When I was living in Ibiza I met the inspirational make-up artist Mary Greenwell. She told me about her inspiring career and encouraged me to train at the Glauca Rossi School of Make-Up. She was my introduction to the fashion industry: the shows, shoots and campaigns.
Being a make-up artist in the 1990s was mesmerizing. It was the era of the supermodels: total glamazons who epitomised beauty and glamour and really embraced hair and make-up artistry. I learnt that whatever you do, a woman always wants to leave the make-up chair feeling beautiful, powerful and sexy.
I now have the opportunity to work with some of the most incredible people in the industry: the world’s best fashion photographers, such as Mario Testino, Mert & Marcus and Terry Richardson; some incredible designers such as Tom Ford, Stella McCartney and Burberry; some of the most beautiful women in the world – like Kate Moss, Jennifer Lopez, Penelope Cruz, Kristen Stewart and Laetitia Casta; and other amazing people in the industry, such as Anna Dello Russo, Katie Grand and Carine Roitfeld.

PS With my hectic schedule and travels, I can’t always update the blog myself. When my hands are full of makeup, Team Tilbury will tell you what I’m up to!
